Environmental benefits and sustainability potential of aluminum-plastic co-extruded profiles

In the context of the global advocacy of green development, sustainable development, the construction industry as a key area of energy consumption and environmental pollution, its environmental transformation is imminent. Door and window profiles as an important part of the building, its environmental performance and sustainable development potential has attracted much attention. Aluminum-plastic co-extruded profiles, with their unique advantages, perform well in terms of environmental benefits and inject new vitality into the green development of the construction industry.

Significant advantages in production energy consumption

Comparison with plastic steel profiles

Plastic steel profiles are mostly made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin as the main raw material, and the production process involves complex polymerization, plasticization and other processes. In the production of energy consumption, according to relevant statistics, the production of the same weight of plastic steel profiles, its energy consumption is about 1/45 of steel, aluminum 1/8. But compared with aluminum-plastic co-extruded profiles, there is still a certain gap. Aluminum-plastic co-extruded profiles in the production, although it involves aluminum alloy and plastic composite process, but thanks to advanced production technology and equipment, energy consumption is effectively controlled. To annual assembly of 10,000 square meters, for example, plastic steel windows per square meter with profiles and steel lining production energy consumption of about 176kg standard coal / m², while aluminum-plastic co-extruded windows total only 115kg standard coal / m², aluminum-plastic co-extruded windows and doors profiles production of energy consumption (industry) is only 65% of the plastic steel. This means that in mass production applications, aluminum-plastic co-extruded profiles can significantly reduce energy consumption.

Comparison with Broken Bridge Aluminum Profiles

The production process of Broken Bridge Aluminum Profiles, especially in the melting, extrusion and surface treatment of aluminum alloys, requires a large amount of energy consumption. For example, in the ordinary anodic oxidation, electrophoresis coating production process, water, electricity consumption is huge, rectifier output current up to 8000 - 11000A, voltage between 15 - 17.5V, plus the machine heat consumption, tons of electricity consumption is often in the 1000 degrees. In contrast, aluminum-plastic co-extruded profile production energy consumption is lower. It has been calculated that the total energy consumption per square meter of the production of broken bridge aluminum windows is about 152kg standard coal/m², while the aluminum-plastic co-extruded window is 115kg standard coal/m², and the energy consumption of aluminum-plastic co-extruded windows and doors is only 75% of that of the broken bridge aluminum profiles.

Pollutant emission reduction results

In order to assemble 10,000 square meters of aluminum-plastic co-extruded windows and doors annually, for example, according to the “China Energy Conservation Industry Network” carbon emissions calculation method, saving 0.4 kg of standard coal (equivalent to 1 kWh), can reduce 0.272 kg of dust, 0.997 kg of carbon dioxide, 0.03 kg of sulfur dioxide, 0.015 kg of nitrogen oxides. Due to the reduction of energy consumption in the production of aluminum-plastic co-extruded profiles, 370 tons of standard coal can be saved annually, and accordingly, the emission of 251.6 tons of dust, 922 tons of carbon dioxide, 27.75 tons of sulfur dioxide, 13.88 tons of nitrogen oxides can be reduced. These figures visually demonstrate the outstanding contribution of aluminum-plastic co-extruded profiles in reducing pollutant emissions and protecting the environment.

Material recyclability promotes sustainable development

Partial recycling of aluminum alloys

Aluminum alloys are highly recyclable. During the recycling process, aluminum alloys can be recast into various profiles through melting and other processes, and the properties of recycled aluminum alloys are comparable to those of virgin aluminum alloys. In aluminum-plastic co-extruded profiles, the aluminum alloy skeleton portion can be efficiently recycled and reused at the end of the service life of the window or door. This not only reduces the dependence on primary aluminum resources and the ecological damage caused by aluminum mining, but also saves a lot of energy used for primary aluminum production. According to statistics, the energy consumption of recycled aluminum is only 5% - 10% of the energy consumption of primary aluminum production.

Plastic Part Recycling

The plastic in the outer layer of Liaoning aluminum-plastic co-extruded profiles is mostly recyclable thermoplastic. After the windows and doors are scrapped, they can be reprocessed into plastic products or used as raw materials for the production of other plastic products through appropriate treatment processes, such as crushing and granulation. Although there may be some quality loss in plastics recycling, the efficiency and quality of plastics recycling is gradually improving as technology continues to advance. This material recyclability makes aluminum-plastic co-extruded profiles less wasteful throughout their life cycle, in line with the concept of sustainable development.

Potential in the green building development trend

With the increasingly stringent green building standards, the requirements for energy-saving and environmentally friendly performance of window and door profiles are becoming higher and higher. Aluminum-plastic co-extruded profiles, by virtue of their good thermal insulation properties (such as foamed plastic insulation layer can effectively reduce heat conduction), can significantly reduce heating and cooling energy consumption during the use of the building and help the building to achieve energy saving goals. In green building rating systems, such as LEED, BREEAM, etc., the advantages of aluminum-plastic co-extruded profiles in terms of energy saving, emission reduction, material sustainability, etc., can add points to the building, and enhance the green rating of the building. In the future, with the continuous innovation of technology
